Full Scribe

What is a "Full Scribe" log home?

Also referred to as ""Scandinavian Full Scribe" or Swedish Cope"

Originating in Sweden, this log construction style is done by carving a lateral groove along the whole underside of the log, so that each log fits tightly on the one below it. The corners are typically saddle-notched for a tight, interlocking fit.

Benefits of Full Scribe:

  • Does not require chinking. (Some caulking could be expected due to the natural movement of the logs.)
  • Full log walls without chink joints give a more harmonious wood feel and appearance.
  • Traditional Scandinavian joinery portrays more visible craftsmanship in the logwork.

Customer reviews

Knaughty Log did everything right by us involving the blasting, refinishing and caulking on our home. Price quoted was reasonable and they held true to it. Not only was the project completed on time, the crew put in EXTRA time to beat encroaching weather. The end product was all we had hoped for and made our home practically shine as we prepared to sell it. Communication was prompt and clear for the duration, the guys were not only professional but also friendly. I would certainly recommend them and I do not leave a 5 star review flippantly!
In the end, I feel I received great value for the money spent.
