Full Scribe
What is a "Full Scribe" log home?
Also referred to as ""Scandinavian Full Scribe" or Swedish Cope"
Originating in Sweden, this log construction style is done by carving a lateral groove along the whole underside of the log, so that each log fits tightly on the one below it. The corners are typically saddle-notched for a tight, interlocking fit.
Benefits of Full Scribe:
- Does not require chinking. (Some caulking could be expected due to the natural movement of the logs.)
- Full log walls without chink joints give a more harmonious wood feel and appearance.
- Traditional Scandinavian joinery portrays more visible craftsmanship in the logwork.
