Square Log - Dovetail

What is a Square Log - Dovetail Cabin?

To be honest, there are only a few companies around today who still make a handcrafted dovetail home (appalachian style) and Knaughty Log Homes is one of them! While this style was popular in the early eastern US settlements, hence the reference to appalachia, not many folks appreciate them in today's world.

Named for the compound angles that naturally interlock each corner joint, square log - dovetail cabins are generally built with hand-hewn timber or logs flattened on at least two sides.

Advantages of Square Log Dovetail:

  • Square log wall surfaces make for easier framing of interior walls.
  • Chinking joints between logs give a high contrast feel.
  • Harness the classic log cabin style.

Customer reviews

Knaughty Log did everything right by us involving the blasting, refinishing and caulking on our home. Price quoted was reasonable and they held true to it. Not only was the project completed on time, the crew put in EXTRA time to beat encroaching weather. The end product was all we had hoped for and made our home practically shine as we prepared to sell it. Communication was prompt and clear for the duration, the guys were not only professional but also friendly. I would certainly recommend them and I do not leave a 5 star review flippantly!
In the end, I feel I received great value for the money spent.
